SEO and GEO

SEO and AI-search visibility, checked every month

A monthly check of how search engines and AI assistants read your website, with a clear list of what to fix and in what order. Open to any business, whoever built the website.

In short

SEO Management is a monthly crawl of your website that checks its technical health, the on-page basics search engines rely on, and whether AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Perplexity can read it (GEO, generative engine optimisation). You receive a prioritised fix list each month. No login to your website is needed. For websites we build or host, the fixes are applied for you on the Hosting and SEO plan.

How it works

How a crawler reads a website

A website drawn as a tree of pages fanning out from the home page, with a few more pages of the wider web fading behind. Every link is joined and every page carries a tick, and a red marker at the home page shows the monthly crawl has finished.
  1. Your website as a crawler sees it

Search engines and AI assistants do not look at your website the way a visitor does. They follow links from page to page and read what is underneath: titles, headings, descriptions and structured data.

  2. The monthly crawl

Each month we follow the same route through your website and record what gets in the way: broken links, missing descriptions, duplicate titles, pages an AI crawler cannot read.

  3. Fixed and confirmed

You get a prioritised fix list. Once the changes are made, the next month's crawl confirms they have held and catches anything new.

What the monthly check covers

Technical health

Whether every page loads, is served securely, has one main address, and can be reached by following links. Broken links and redirect chains are listed.

On-page basics

Page titles, the main heading on each page, meta descriptions (the summary shown under a search result), canonical tags and image descriptions.

AI-assistant readability

Whether AI crawlers are allowed in, whether the content is readable without running scripts, and whether structured data describes your business correctly.

Why it matters

Most of what holds a small business website back in search is invisible from the front. In our survey of 88 local businesses around Newcastle-under-Lyme, 40 of the 72 websites that loaded scored zero on the on-page basics: a sensible page title, exactly one main heading, a meta description, a canonical tag, and a reachable sitemap. The full figures are in the survey write-up.

The same details now decide whether an AI assistant can work out what your business does and where. What this means for you: a monthly check finds these faults, puts the ones that matter most first, and catches anything that drifts back after a change.

How it works

  1. You send the website address. No login is needed.
  2. Each month we crawl the website the way a search engine does.
  3. You receive a prioritised fix list: what to change, where, and in what order.
  4. Your team or developer makes the changes, or on a Hosting and SEO plan we do.
  5. The next crawl confirms what has been done and flags anything new.

An example

A homepage looks fine to a visitor. Behind it, the page title is still the template default, there are two main headings rather than one, and there is no meta description, so search engines write their own summary of the page.

The fix list puts those three first, because they are quick changes that affect how every search result for that page reads. A missing sitemap comes next, then the lower-priority items. The following month's crawl shows which have been done.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between SEO and GEO?

SEO (search engine optimisation) is about how search engines such as Google and Bing find, read and rank your website. GEO (generative engine optimisation) is about whether AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI answers can find your website, read it and identify your business correctly. Most of the groundwork is the same, so this service covers both.

Do you need access to our website?

No. The check reads the website from the outside, the same way a search engine does.

Do you make the changes?

On the standalone service, your team or developer makes them from the fix list. For websites we build or host, the Hosting and SEO plan applies the fixes for you.

Can you guarantee a ranking or a mention by an AI assistant?

No, and nobody can honestly promise one. The service finds and prioritises what gets in the way of your website being found and understood, and confirms each month that it has been dealt with.

How is this different from the AI Visibility Check?

SEO Management is an ongoing monthly check of your website. The AI Visibility Check is a one-off look at whether AI assistants can find and correctly identify your business across your whole online presence, including listings and profiles, not just the website.

Do we need to be a web design client?

No. It is open to any business, whether or not we built the website.
