Who you'll actually be working with

Scorpion AI Tooling is founder-led. When you get in touch, your message goes to Sam directly — not an account manager, not a sales queue. The person who scopes your project is the person who builds it.

In Sam's own words:

1. First jobs

   I've worked in and around small, independent businesses for most of my life. My first job was a dog groomers when I was 12, then waitstaffing through my teens, so I've always had a soft spot for them.

2. University and freelancing

   I was studying criminology at university, freelancing as a coder and AI developer on the side.

3. Noticing the gap

   That's when I noticed something that didn't sit right with me: small businesses kept getting stuck choosing between software priced for big companies or plans with real limits on what they could actually do with it. That gap seemed to be growing, not shrinking.

4. The chatbot job

   Through a networking course, I got talking to Chris, who asked me to update a chatbot for him. Doing that work made me realise this was something I actually wanted to do for a living.

5. Founding Scorpion

   The job market wanted three years' experience with large language models and I only had two, so rather than keep waiting for someone to give me a chance, I decided to build something myself. That's how Scorpion AI Tooling started.

6. Today

   Mostly specialising in Claude now, and the company's developing nicely.

I'm also constantly building tools outside the small-business side of things — an ADHD form helper, dyslexia-friendly AI skills, that kind of thing — because making good tools more accessible matters to me just as much as making them affordable.

What founder-led means for you

There's no hand-off between the person who scopes your project and the person who builds it — the same person does both, from your first email through to launch. It's also part of why pricing stays close to what a project actually costs to deliver.
